Bio on Mrs. Rosemary Hewitt,
"Newinn Labrador Retrievers" in her own words
My Family have always been
involved with dogs, horses and goats. I have bred and showed Wire Fox
Terriers, Beagles, Pointers as well as Labradors.
In 1962 my 1st Labrador Arrived,
purchased from a local Cattle market. She was dark yellow and just six weeks
old. Her pedigree name was Berackenhaven Gorse, "Devon" as we called
her, had been bred in the Fen (wetlands) country of Linconshire. Her parents had
been used for wildfowling and she never lost her love of water. Her breeding was
Poppleton, Diant, and Nokeener. She was bred to Champion Landyke Lancer
producing some very nice puppies. The 1st time I showed her she won a 3rd and so
I was into the show scene.
After my marriage to Michael we
purchased two yellow bitch puppies. Newinn Sandylands Catrina & Poolstead
Polyphoto of Newinn "Poly" . Catrina was mated to her
Grandfather Ch. Sandylands Tandy to produce two sisters Newinn Amber &
Newinn Angelina. Amber was mated to Sandylands Mark and produced Ch. Sandylands
Newinn Columbus and his sister Clare who was a reserve CC
winner.
Polyphoto was the last offspring
of Sandylands Mark. When she was bred to Newinn Naterjack she produced Sh.
Ch. Newinn Oasis, a winner of 10 CC.
Down from both bitches (Poly
& Caterina) came the Champions Newinn Harmony of Peradon, Ch. Sandylands
Newinn Columbus, Sh. Ch. Newinn Oasis, Sh.
Ch. Newinn Kestrel, Sh.
Ch. Newinn Greenfinch, Sh.
Ch. Newinn Dwight Yoakum, Sh.
Ch. Newinn Clint Black, Sh.
Ch. Newinn Tish Hinojosa, Sh Ch. Keysun Rhapsody of Newinn, Sh. Ch. Newinn
Winter Fantasy, Sh. Ch. Newinn Old Hinny of Tissalian, and
"Jamie" Sh.
CH. Beltarn Diuma of Newinn, a winner of 15 Challenge Certificates, top
puppy in the breed in 1987, and top labrador in 1988 and 1989. Richard Edwards
wrote...."Diuma was the very solid black type that came down through Mark
& his son Ch. Ballyduff Marketeer, indeed it was Marketeer that Diuma
must resembled with his size, presence, and reach of neck. It is a
matter of opinion of course, but for the author, who also awarded him a CC,
Diuma was ever bit as good as Marketeer. " Jamie's sire was the great Ch.
Kupros Master Mariner. Jamie was a joy to own and died at the age of 15.
We also have produced many more
Champions abroad and numerous CC and reserve CC winners at home.
I judged my first Championship
show in 1981, and have judged in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Holland, Switzerland,
Germany, Italy, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. I have just completed my
judging of the dogs at Crufts. I am very much looking forward to judging in
Canada in September.
